ALPHA10X is looking for a hands-on Staff Platform Engineer. Reporting to the CTO, you will act as a player-coach—translating strategy into production-ready code and resilient Azure and ML infrastructure, modernizing our microservices, and coaching our engineers to deliver reliably and at speed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaboration: Partner with Software, AI, Data, and Product to turn requirements into reliable services. Drive a delivery culture with clear standards, actionable PR feedback, and shared ownership.
  • Architecture & Delivery: Evolve our Azure Functions/App Services microservices / Databricks notebooks toward scalable, resilient designs. Profile and remove performance bottlenecks (code, queries, caching, async), enforce idempotency/retries, and use event-driven patterns where appropriate.
  • CI/CD & Testing: Build robust pipelines (Azure DevOps) with pre-merge checks, automated tests (unit/integration/contract/e2e), security/sca scans, and safe releases (feature flags, canary/blue-green, rollback). Introduce load/perf testing for capacity planning.
  • Reliability & Observability: Define SLIs/SLOs and error budgets. Implement logging, metrics, and tracing with Azure Monitor/Application Insights and OpenTelemetry; add proactive alerts, dashboards, and runbooks. Lead incident response and post-mortems.
  • Security & Compliance: Harden cloud/IAM posture, secrets management, and supply chain (image/dependency scanning). Apply least-privilege, network controls, and policy-as-code to keep environments auditable.
  • Developer Experience: Create golden paths and reusable templates (service scaffolds, IaC modules) for fast, consistent delivery. Enable self-service environments, including for data science experimentations, and improve onboarding through documentation and tooling.
  • Team Building: Mentor our engineers via pair programming and structured reviews. Set the technical bar, foster pragmatic design decisions, and grow platform/SWE/SRE skills.

What we are looking for:

  • Hard Skills
    • 7+ years in software engineering with significant platform/DevOps responsibility; proven production ownership.
    • Strong coding in TypeScript (NestJS/Angular) and Python; solid distributed systems fundamentals (concurrency, networking, data).
    • Azure production experience: Functions, App Service, API Management, Storage, Service Bus/Event Hubs, VNETs/private endpoints.
    • Databricks production experience: workspace & cluster setup, jobs and schedules, CI/CD for notebooks and repos, monitoring, and cost optimization.
    • Performance engineering: profiling, async, caching, DB/query tuning, load/capacity planning, cost awareness.
    • Testing strategy: unit, integration, contract, e2e; mocks/test data; quality gates before merge.
    • Infrastructure as Code: Terraform or equivalent for repeatable, secure environments; secrets and IAM best practices.
    • CI/CD at scale: GitHub Actions/Azure DevOps, artifact/versioning, environment promotion, canary/blue-green, rollback.
    • Observability: Azure Monitor/App Insights, OpenTelemetry; SLIs/SLOs, alerts, dashboards, and runbooks.
    • Security: least-privilege IAM, image/dependency scanning, supply-chain controls, policy-as-code (OPA optional).
    • Bonus: experience productionizing LLM/AI services (e.g., LangChain/agents) and search/event-driven systems.
